Development vs. Reversal

Doctrine Over Time

Every tradition develops its teaching over time — that is normal and expected. What this tool shows plainly is something different: where a church has reversed or repudiated a doctrine it once taught.

Read time left → right; each row is one doctrine; each dot is a moment it changed, colour-coded by what kind of change it was. Click any dot for the sourced detail. Switch to “by doctrine” to compare one belief across churches at once.

Click any dot on the timeline to see what changed, when, and the source.

A fair word

Development is not a failing — all churches clarify their teaching over time, and that is marked honestly here. The point is to distinguish that from reversal, and to let the sources speak. Every entry is cited; a “flat” line means consistent, not necessarily correct.
