Courage & Fear

Day 1 · Courage & Fear

Naming Our Fear Honestly

“When I am afraid, I will put my trust in you. In God, I praise his word. In God, I put my trust. I will not be afraid. What can flesh do to me?”Psalm 56:3-4

Reflection

The psalmist does not wait to feel brave before he prays. He names his fear plainly and, in the same breath, turns it toward God: "When I am afraid, I will put my trust in you." We can do the same today, letting honesty be the first step and trust the next. Bringing our fear into the open before God is not weakness; it is the beginning of courage.

A prayer

Loving Father, I come to You just as I am, with the fears I often try to hide. I name them now in Your presence, trusting that You already see and understand. Teach me to turn toward You the moment fear rises, and to rest my weight on Your faithful word. Thank You for being a safe place for an honest heart. Amen.

Carry this with you

What is one fear you have been carrying that you can name honestly before God today?
