Grief & Loss

Day 3 · Grief & Loss

A Hope That Holds

“We do not want you to be uninformed about those who sleep in death, so that you do not grieve like the rest of mankind, who have no hope. For we believe that Jesus died and rose again, and so we believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in Him.”1 Thessalonians 4:13-14

Reflection

Christian grief is real grief — but not hopeless grief. The resurrection does not cancel the tears; it changes their horizon. We sorrow as those who will see again. Hope does not rush you through grief; it walks with you to the other side of it.

A prayer

Risen Lord, my grief is real, and so is Your empty tomb. Hold both for me when I cannot. Comfort me with the hope that death is not the end of the story for those who are Yours. Amen.

Carry this with you

What would it look like to grieve honestly and hopefully at the same time this week?
