Day 5 · Hope When You're Discouraged
Renewed Day by Day
“Therefore we don't faint, but though our outward man is decaying, yet our inward man is renewed day by day. For our light affliction, which is for the moment, works for us more and more exceedingly an eternal weight of glory.”2 Corinthians 4:16-17
Reflection
Renewal rarely arrives all at once; it comes day by day. You may not feel transformed by the end of this week, and that is alright. God's work in you is steady and often quiet, like the slow return of strength after illness. Paul also lifts our eyes beyond the present: our hardest seasons are real, but they are not the final word. A glory is coming, and it is heavier than all of this.
A prayer
Lord, thank You that You are renewing me day by day, even when I cannot feel it. Give me patience with myself and trust in Your unhurried work. Lift my eyes beyond this moment to the hope You are preparing — a joy that will outweigh every heavy thing. Until then, renew me again this morning, and help me take the next small step with You. Amen.
Carry this with you
