Day 5 · Joy That Lasts
Joy No One Can Take
“Therefore you now have sorrow, but I will see you again, and your heart will rejoice, and no one will take your joy away from you.”John 16:22
Reflection
Jesus spoke this to His friends before His death, promising a joy on the far side of sorrow — a joy secured by His own resurrection. Because He is risen and present, our deepest joy rests on something the world cannot reach or remove. Circumstances may take much from us, but the joy rooted in the living Christ is held safe, beyond their grasp.
A prayer
Risen Lord, thank You that the joy You give does not depend on what I can hold onto, but on You, who cannot be taken from me. When sorrow comes, remind me that it is not the end of the story. Root my joy so deeply in You that nothing in this world can carry it away. I rejoice that You are alive, and that You are mine. Amen.
Carry this with you
What does it mean for you that your truest joy is something no one can take away?
