Lent: A Return to God

Day 7 · Lent: A Return to God

Waiting for the Morning

“I wait for Yahweh. My soul waits. I hope in his word. My soul longs for the Lord more than watchmen long for the morning, more than watchmen for the morning.”Psalm 130:5-6

Reflection

Lent draws to a close in waiting, the kind of patient watching that guards know as they long for the first light to break over the horizon. We have turned, repented, let go, and forgiven, and now we stand in hope on the edge of Easter. The empty tomb is coming, and our quiet longing is about to be met with joy.

A prayer

O Lord, my soul waits for you as a watchman longs for the dawn. Hold me in hope through the last quiet hours of this season. Thank you for walking with me through repentance and into trust, and for the resurrection joy you are preparing. As the morning of Easter draws near, let my whole heart be ready to greet the risen Christ. Amen.

Carry this with you

As I look back over this week, where have I sensed God drawing me closer, and what joy am I waiting for?
