Day 5 · Loving Difficult People
Leave Justice to God
“Don't seek revenge yourselves, beloved, but give place to God's wrath. For it is written, 'Vengeance belongs to me; I will repay, says the Lord.'”Romans 12:19
Reflection
Often what keeps us bound to a difficult person is the longing for justice — for them to be held accountable, to get what they deserve. Paul gently takes that burden from us: do not avenge yourselves; leave room for God. Justice is His, and He is far better at it than we are. Releasing our case to God frees us from the exhausting work of keeping score.
A prayer
Father, part of me wants to see the difficult person get what they deserve, and that desire keeps me bound. Today I release it to You. I will not take revenge or keep score; I leave justice in Your hands, where it belongs. You see all, and You are perfectly just and merciful. Free my heart from the burden of repaying, and give me peace. Amen.
Carry this with you
What would it free in you to release your longing for justice into God's hands?
