Praying for Your Children

Day 1 · Praying for Your Children

Entrusting Them to God

“For this child I prayed; and Yahweh has given me my petition which I asked of him. Therefore I have also given him to Yahweh. As long as he lives he is given to Yahweh.”1 Samuel 1:27-28

Reflection

Hannah longed for her son, and when he came, she did the hardest and wisest thing: she gave him back to God. Our children are deeply ours to love and raise, yet they were never only ours — they are God's first. Entrusting them to Him is not letting go of love; it is placing the ones we love into the hands most able to hold them.

A prayer

Father, the children I love are a gift I could never deserve. Today I give them back to You, as Hannah did — not because I love them less, but because You love them more and hold them more surely than I ever could. Into Your hands I place their lives, their hearts, and their days. Help me to trust You with the ones I love most. Amen.

Carry this with you

What does it stir in you to place your child, by name, into God's hands today?
