Day 4 · Repentance
A Heart Made New
“I will also give you a new heart, and I will put a new spirit within you. I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you a heart of flesh.”Ezekiel 36:26
Reflection
Repentance is more than feeling sorry; it is letting God soften what has grown hard in us. We cannot manufacture a new heart by willpower, but we can offer the old one and ask Him to do the renewing. Turning back to God is also trusting Him to change us from the inside out.
A prayer
Gracious God, where my heart has grown hard or cold, I ask You to make it tender again. I cannot change myself, so I offer You what I have and trust Your renewing Spirit. Put a new spirit within me and teach me to love what You love. Soften me gently, in Your own time and way. Amen.
Carry this with you
Where do you sense your heart has grown hard, and what would it mean to let God soften it there?
