Waiting on God

Day 4 · Waiting on God

Hoping for What We Cannot See

“For we were saved in hope, but hope that is seen is not hope. For who hopes for that which he sees? But if we hope for that which we don't see, we wait for it with patience.”Romans 8:24-25

Reflection

Paul reminds us that real hope, by its very nature, reaches toward what is not yet visible. If we could already see the answer, we would not need to hope at all. This means the unseen quality of your waiting is not a sign that God is absent; it is the very ground where Christian hope grows. Patience, then, is hope holding on with both hands until the unseen becomes real.

A prayer

God of hope, so much of what I am praying for is still unseen, and that is hard for me. Strengthen me to hope for what I cannot yet hold, as your people have so often trusted your promises before seeing them fulfilled. Make my patience a quiet act of faith rather than a clenched fist. I anchor my hope in Christ, who is faithful to all who wait on him. Amen.

Carry this with you

How does it change your waiting to remember that hope is meant for the things you cannot yet see?
