Work & Vocation

Day 5 · Work & Vocation

Offering the Work of Our Hands

“Let the favor of the Lord our God be on us. Establish the work of our hands for us. Yes, establish the work of our hands.”Psalm 90:17

Reflection

At the end of all our striving, there is a quiet place of surrender, where we ask God Himself to establish what we cannot secure on our own. We do our part with diligence, and then we entrust the lasting fruit of our labor to Him. This is the freedom of vocation: to work with care while resting in the truth that the outcome is finally in God's gracious hands.

A prayer

Father, I offer You the work of my hands, both what I have done well and what feels unfinished or uncertain. I cannot make my labor lasting on my own, so I ask You to establish it according to Your goodness. Let Your favor rest upon me, and use even my imperfect efforts for Your purposes. Help me to work faithfully and to trust You with all that I cannot control. Amen.

Carry this with you

What part of my work can I consciously hand over to God today, trusting Him with the outcome?
