Day 5 · Anger & Patience
The God Who Is Patient With Us
“Yahweh is merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and abundant in loving kindness.”Psalm 103:8
Reflection
Before we are ever asked to be patient, we are first loved by a God who is slow to anger toward us. The patience we long to grow is simply an echo of the mercy we have already received. As we rest in how gently God has dealt with us, we find ourselves freed to extend a measure of that same grace to others.
A prayer
Gracious God, thank you that you are slow to anger with me, abundant in loving kindness even when I fall short. Let the patience you have shown me overflow into the way I treat the people around me. When I am tempted to be harsh, remind me how mercifully you have treated my own failings. Make me a small reflection of your steady, gracious love. Amen.
Carry this with you
Remembering God's patience with you, who is one person you could choose to show that same gentleness this week?
