Day 3 · Before Sleep

Into Your Hands

“Jesus called out with a loud voice, 'Father, into Your hands I commit My spirit.'”Luke 23:46; Psalm 31:5

Reflection

Jesus made a bedtime psalm His final prayer from the cross. To pray 'into Your hands' each night is to rehearse the deepest trust there is — that we are safe in God's keeping, in sleep and in death alike.

A prayer

Into Your hands, O Lord, I commit my spirit, my body, my loved ones, and this day now ended. Guard me through the night, and wake me to Your mercies in the morning. Amen.

Carry this with you

Pray slowly, three times: 'Into Your hands, O Lord, I commit my spirit.'
