God Is Near the Broken
“The righteous cry, and Yahweh hears, and delivers them out of all their troubles. Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit.”Psalm 34:17-18
Reflection
When we feel most defeated, it can seem as though God has stepped away. Scripture says the opposite: he draws near to the broken and the crushed, leaning in rather than turning away. Your honesty about your struggle does not push God back; it is the very place where he promises to come close.
A prayer
Father, today I admit how worn down and broken I feel, and I am grateful that this is exactly where you promise to be near. Hear my cry, even when the words are small or unsure. Steady my crushed spirit with the assurance that you have not abandoned me. Let me sense, even a little, how close you are right now. Amen.
