The Fruit of the Spirit

Day 2 · The Fruit of the Spirit

Joy

“I have spoken these things to you, that my joy may remain in you, and that your joy may be made full.”John 15:11

Reflection

Joy, as fruit, is not the same as a cheerful temperament or easy circumstances. Jesus speaks of His own joy living in us — a deep gladness that remains even when life is hard. It grows as we stay connected to Him, the vine. We do not work joy up; we receive it by abiding, letting His life flow into ours.

A prayer

Lord Jesus, You spoke of Your own joy living in me and making my joy full. I confess I often look for joy everywhere but in You. Keep me connected to You, the true vine, so that Your gladness flows into my heart. Where life feels heavy, let Your joy remain underneath it — quiet, steady, and full. Grow this fruit in me by Your Spirit. Amen.

Carry this with you

Where might staying close to Jesus today bring a joy your circumstances can't?
