Peace
“Peace I leave with you. My peace I give to you; not as the world gives, give I to you. Don't let your heart be troubled, neither let it be fearful.”John 14:27
Reflection
The peace Jesus gives is not the world's kind, which depends on everything going smoothly. His peace is a gift He leaves with us, able to steady our hearts in the middle of trouble. It is fruit of the Spirit's presence, not the absence of problems. We receive it by trusting the One who is with us, even when our circumstances are anything but calm.
A prayer
Prince of Peace, the world offers a fragile calm that vanishes when things go wrong. You offer a deeper peace that does not depend on my circumstances. Quiet my anxious heart today. Where I am troubled and afraid, let Your peace stand guard. Help me trust that You are with me, and grow this steadying fruit in me by Your Spirit. Amen.
