Day 4 · The Fruit of the Spirit
Patience
“with all lowliness and humility, with patience, bearing with one another in love.”Ephesians 4:2
Reflection
Patience is love stretched out over time — bearing with people and situations that test us, without giving up on them. It is deeply unglamorous and deeply Christlike. The Spirit grows patience not by removing the irritations but by changing how we meet them: with humility instead of demand, with grace instead of irritation. God, after all, has been endlessly patient with us.
A prayer
Father, thank You for Your patience with me — slow to anger, abounding in love. I confess how quickly I grow irritable with others and with my circumstances. Grow patience in me by Your Spirit: help me bear with people in love, give grace where I want to snap, and remember how patient You have been with me. Make me long-suffering, like You. Amen.
Carry this with you
Who or what is testing your patience now, and how might God's patience with you reshape your response?
