The Fruit of the Spirit

Day 8 · The Fruit of the Spirit

Gentleness

“Let your gentleness be known to all men. The Lord is at hand.”Philippians 4:5

Reflection

Gentleness is strength under control — power restrained by love. It is not weakness; Jesus, who could command storms, described Himself as gentle and humble in heart. The Spirit grows gentleness in us so that our strength serves rather than bruises, and our words heal rather than wound. A gentle presence is a rare gift in a harsh world.

A prayer

Lord Jesus, You are gentle and humble in heart, the strong One who never crushed the bruised. Grow that same gentleness in me. Where I am harsh, soften me; where I use my words or strength to wound, teach me restraint and tenderness. Let my gentleness be known to those around me, because You are near. Shape this fruit in me by Your Spirit. Amen.
