Day 3 · A Grateful Heart
Gratitude in the Hard Places
“For even though the fig tree doesn't flourish, nor fruit be in the vines, the labor of the olive fails, the fields yield no food, the flocks are cut off from the fold, and there is no herd in the stalls, yet I will rejoice in Yahweh. I will be joyful in the God of my salvation!”Habakkuk 3:17-18
Reflection
Thanksgiving is not pretending that everything is well or denying real pain. It is choosing, even when the harvest fails, to rejoice in the God who remains. Gratitude in the hard places is honest; it carries our sorrow to God and still trusts that He is good.
A prayer
God of all comfort, You know the places in my life where things have not gone as I hoped. I bring You my disappointments honestly, without hiding them. And even here, I choose to give thanks that You are still with me, still faithful, still my salvation. Hold me steady when my circumstances feel uncertain, for my hope rests in You. Amen.
Carry this with you
Where might God be inviting you to trust Him even before your situation changes?
