Grief & Loss
Day 2 · Grief & Loss
Permission to Lament
“How long, Lord? Will You forget me forever?... But I trust in Your unfailing love; my heart rejoices in Your salvation.”Psalm 13:1-2,5
Reflection
Scripture hands the grieving a language for sorrow that does not flinch — and it keeps that sorrow turned toward God. Lament is not unbelief; it is faith refusing to let go of God even while it aches. Notice how the psalm holds both 'how long?' and 'I trust.'
A prayer
Father, I bring You my honest 'how long?' I will not tidy it up. And even here, I hold on to Your unfailing love. Do not let go of me, and I will not let go of You. Amen.
Carry this with you
Write your own honest 'how long?' to God — then, if you can, your own 'but I trust.'
