Near to the Brokenhearted
“Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit.”Psalm 34:18
Reflection
When we are sick, or watching someone we love suffer, God can feel far away, as though our prayers rise into an empty sky. Yet Scripture insists on the opposite: the Lord draws especially near to the brokenhearted and the crushed in spirit. Your weakness does not push God away; it is the very place He chooses to come close.
A prayer
Father, on the days when You feel distant, remind me that You promise to be near the broken and the crushed. Help me to sense Your nearness even when my circumstances have not changed. Steady my heart with the truth that I am not facing this alone. Hold me close, Lord, and let me rest in Your presence. Amen.
