Joy That Lasts

Day 3 · Joy That Lasts

Rejoice Always

“Rejoice in the Lord always! Again I will say, 'Rejoice!'”Philippians 4:4

Reflection

Paul wrote these words from prison — which tells us this joy is not a mood that depends on easy circumstances. Notice its anchor: rejoice in the Lord. We are not commanded to feel happy about everything, but to keep returning our hearts to the One who does not change. Joy becomes possible always, because its source is always the same.

A prayer

Lord, teach me a joy that does not rise and fall with my circumstances. When life is hard, anchor my heart in You rather than in what is happening around me. I choose to rejoice in You — in who You are and what You have done — even on the heavy days. Let that steady gladness become a habit of my heart. Amen.

Carry this with you

How might you 'rejoice in the Lord' even on a day that is not going well?
