Lent: A Return to God

Day 6 · Lent: A Return to God

Walking the Way of the Cross

“He said to all, "If anyone desires to come after me, let him deny himself, take up his cross, and follow me."”Luke 9:23

Reflection

As Easter draws near, our gaze turns toward the cross that Jesus carried for us. To follow him is not to chase suffering for its own sake but to trust that the path of self-giving love leads through sorrow toward resurrection. The cross we are asked to carry is shaped by love, and we never carry it alone, for Christ walks the road ahead of us.

A prayer

Lord Jesus, you did not turn away from the cross, but carried it for love of me and of the whole world. Give me courage to follow you along the way of self-giving love, even when it costs me something. Remind me that this road does not end at the grave but opens into your life. Walk with me, and let me never imagine I carry anything alone. Amen.

Carry this with you
