Day 1 · Loneliness
You Are Seen
“She called the name of Yahweh who spoke to her, "You are a God who sees," for she said, "Have I even stayed alive after seeing him?"”Genesis 16:13
Reflection
Hagar was alone in the wilderness, mistreated and overlooked by the people around her, when God met her and she realized he had been watching over her the whole time. Loneliness can persuade us that no one truly notices us, yet God's attention is steady and unhurried. Often he sees our sorrow before anyone else has any idea it is there.
A prayer
Father, you are the God who sees me, even in the places where I feel forgotten. When I am tempted to believe that no one notices my struggle, remind me that I am never beyond your gaze. Thank you that you came looking for Hagar in the wilderness, and that you look on me now with that same tender care. Help me to rest today in being fully known and still fully loved by you. Amen.
Carry this with you
Where in your life do you most long to be seen, and what might change if you trusted that God already sees you there?
