He Will Not Leave
“Yahweh himself is who goes before you. He will be with you. He will not fail you nor forsake you. Don't be afraid. Don't be discouraged.”Deuteronomy 31:8
Reflection
These words were first spoken to a whole people standing at the edge of an unknown future, and the same promise still reaches each of us. God does not send us out ahead on our own; he goes before us and walks alongside us. His presence is not a mood we have to work up but a steady truth we are invited to lean on.
A prayer
Lord, I admit that loneliness can leave me afraid and discouraged, as though I have to face everything by myself. Thank you that you go before me and walk beside me, and that you have promised never to leave or forsake me. When my feelings tell me otherwise, hold me steady in your faithful word. Quiet my fear, and help me trust that you are here. Amen.
