Peace with Your Past

Day 3 · Peace with Your Past

As Far as the East from the West

“As far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us.”Psalm 103:12

Reflection

When God forgives, He does not merely overlook our sin; He removes it — as far as the east is from the west, a distance that never meets. He is not keeping a hidden file, waiting to bring it up again. What He has forgiven, He has truly put away. The past you keep dragging back into the present, God has already carried infinitely far from you.

A prayer

Merciful God, thank You that You have removed my sins as far as the east is from the west — completely, finally, out of sight. Forgive me for dragging back what You have carried away. Help me to stop rehearsing what You have already forgotten. Let the distance You have placed between me and my sin become the freedom in which I live. Amen.

Carry this with you

What forgiven thing do you keep dragging back, though God has already put it away?
