Praying for Those You Love

Day 3 · Praying for Those You Love

Praying with Patience

“The Lord is not slow concerning his promise, as some count slowness; but he is patient with us, not wishing that anyone should perish, but that all should come to repentance.”2 Peter 3:9

Reflection

Sometimes the hardest part of praying for someone is the waiting, when years pass and little seems to change. Scripture reminds us that what looks like God's slowness is not absence or indifference, but patience, room made by mercy for hearts to turn. Today we ask God to give us a measure of His own patience, the kind that keeps loving and keeps hoping without keeping score.

A prayer

Patient God, You are not slow but merciful, holding the door of grace open with a kindness I am only beginning to understand. Teach me to wait the way You wait, with hope rather than frustration, and with love rather than weariness. Guard my heart against discouragement when I see no change, and remind me that Your timing is gentle and good. I entrust the one I love to Your unhurried mercy. Amen.

Carry this with you

Where have you grown weary in waiting, and how might God's patience reshape the way you hope?
