Praying for Your Children

Day 4 · Praying for Your Children

When You Worry About Them

“In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus.”Philippians 4:6-7

Reflection

Love and worry are tangled together in a parent's heart. Scripture does not shame our anxiety; it gives it somewhere to go — into prayer. Each fear can become a request laid before God. We may not be handed all the answers, but we are promised a peace that stands guard over our hearts, keeping watch while we cannot.

A prayer

Father, You know the worries I carry for my children — some I can name, and some I only feel. Instead of letting them circle in my mind, I bring each one to You now. Thank You for what You have already done. Guard my heart with Your peace, the peace that makes no sense and yet holds, and help me to trust rather than fear. Amen.
