Day 3 · Preparing for Confession
Trusting the Promise
“If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”1 John 1:9
Reflection
Confession is not a gamble; it rests on a promise. God does not pause to decide whether the honest heart deserves forgiveness, for he has bound himself to be faithful. We confess not to persuade God toward mercy, but because mercy is already there, steady and waiting to receive us the moment we come.
A prayer
Faithful God, thank you that forgiveness is not something I must earn but something you have promised. When my heart whispers that my wrong is too much, remind me that you are faithful and righteous to forgive. Help me come to you trusting this promise rather than doubting your goodness. Cleanse me, and let me rest in the freedom you give. Amen.
Carry this with you
What might change in the way you pray if you truly believed God is ready and willing, not reluctant, to forgive you?
