The Easy Yoke
“Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart; and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”Matthew 11:29-30
Reflection
Rest, for Jesus, is not the absence of all work but a different way of carrying it — yoked to Him, learning His gentle pace. So much of our exhaustion comes from striving as though everything depended on us alone. He invites us to walk in step with One who is gentle and humble, who shares the load. The yoke is easy because He is the one pulling beside us.
A prayer
Gentle Savior, I have been straining as if it all rests on me. Teach me Your easy yoke — to work from Your strength rather than my own, at Your pace rather than the world's frantic one. Walk beside me and carry what is too heavy for me. Let me learn from Your gentle, humble heart, and find rest for my soul. Amen.
