Rest for the Weary

Day 3 · Rest for the Weary

He Restores My Soul

“Yahweh is my shepherd; I shall lack nothing. He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters. He restores my soul.”Psalm 23:1-3

Reflection

The shepherd does not drive the sheep; he leads them to rest. Sometimes God makes us lie down — through a slower season, a closed door, even an illness — because we will not stop on our own. Still waters and green pastures are not laziness; they are where the soul is restored. Trust that the rest your Shepherd leads you toward is part of His care, not a detour from it.

A prayer

Good Shepherd, thank You that with You I lack nothing I truly need. Lead me to the still waters my soul is thirsty for. Where I have refused to slow down, gently make me lie down, and let me trust that this rest is Your care for me. Restore what has grown weary and depleted in me, and lead me on in peace. Amen.

Carry this with you

Is there a way God may be leading you toward rest that you have been resisting?
