Singleness & Trust

Day 4 · Singleness & Trust

Contentment, Not Resignation

“...for I have learned in whatever state I am, to be content in it. ... I have learned the secret both to be filled and to be hungry, both to abound and to be in need.”Philippians 4:11-12

Reflection

Contentment, Paul says, is learned — not a personality trait but a practice grown over time. It is not pretending you have no desires, nor giving up on hope. It is finding, in Christ, a settled peace that does not depend on your circumstances changing. You can long for things and still be at rest, because your deepest contentment is found in Him.

A prayer

Lord, teach me the secret Paul learned — to be content in You, whatever my circumstances. I do not want a forced cheerfulness that denies my real longings, nor a restless discontent that cannot rest. Anchor my peace in You. Help me hold my hopes honestly and still live at rest today, satisfied first and most deeply in Your love. Amen.

Carry this with you

What would it mean to hold your longings honestly while still being at peace in God today?
