Spiritual Warfare

Day 1 · Spiritual Warfare

The Battle Is the Lord's

“Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.”Ephesians 6:10-11

Reflection

Standing firm does not begin with our effort but with our union with Christ. Notice that Paul tells us to be strong in the Lord, not in ourselves, and the armor we wear is God's armor, given to us as a gift. Before you think about resisting anything, let this settle in your heart: the strength you need is not summoned from within but received from the One who already holds the field.

A prayer

Lord Jesus, I come to You not as a soldier proud of my own strength, but as a child who needs Your protection. Teach me what it means to be strong in You and in the power of Your might. Clothe me today in the armor You have provided, so that I may stand firm and unshaken. Where I am tempted to trust my own willpower, draw me back to trusting You. Amen.

Carry this with you

Where have I been relying on my own strength instead of resting in Christ's?
