Day 2 · Praying the Lord's Prayer
Hallowed Be Your Name
“May your name be kept holy. Let your Kingdom come. Let your will be done, as in heaven, so on earth.”Matthew 6:9-10
Reflection
Before our needs, Jesus turns our hearts toward God's honor and reign. To pray 'hallowed be your name' is to ask that God be treated as holy — in the world, and first of all in us. To pray 'your kingdom come' is to long for His good rule to break into every dark and broken place. We are asking God to be God, here.
A prayer
Holy God, may Your name be honored in my life today — in my words, my work, and the quiet of my thoughts. Let Your kingdom come where I have settled for less: into my home, my fears, the corners I keep closed. Where things are broken, let Your goodness break in. Begin, Lord, with me. Amen.
Carry this with you
Where do you most long to see God's good rule break in — in the world, or in your own heart?
