Give Us Today Our Daily Bread
“Give us today our daily bread.”Matthew 6:11
Reflection
After lifting our eyes to God, Jesus lets us bring our plainest needs. 'Daily bread' is humble — not riches, not a year's security, but enough for today. It teaches dependence: we return each morning, hands open, trusting God for what this day requires. He is not wearied by our needs; He invites them.
A prayer
Father, thank You that I may bring You even my smallest, most ordinary needs. Give me today what I truly need — not always what I want, but enough to do the work and love the people in front of me. Free me from anxious hoarding and teach me to trust You one day at a time, as a child trusts a faithful parent. Amen.
