Day 5 · Praying the Lord's Prayer
Forgive Us, As We Forgive
“Forgive us our debts, as we also forgive our debtors.”Matthew 6:12
Reflection
Here mercy flows in two directions. We ask God to forgive what we owe Him — and we cannot honestly receive that mercy while refusing it to others. Jesus binds the two together not to make forgiveness a payment, but because a heart that has truly received grace begins to give it. We come needing forgiveness, and carrying others toward that same grace.
A prayer
Merciful Father, I bring You the wrongs I have done and the good I have left undone. Thank You that in Christ there is full forgiveness. Now soften my heart toward those who have wronged me; I name them before You and ask for grace to release them. Where I cannot yet forgive, make me willing to begin. Let mercy received become mercy given. Amen.
Carry this with you
Is there someone God may be inviting you to begin to forgive, even slowly?
