Day 4 · Trusting God with Money
Open Hands
“Let each man give according as he has determined in his heart, not grudgingly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.”2 Corinthians 9:7
Reflection
One of the surest ways to break money's grip on us is to give some of it away. Generosity loosens our fingers and reminds us that what we hold was never ultimately ours. God is not after our reluctant coins but our cheerful, free hearts. As we give — thoughtfully and gladly — we become more like the God who gives endlessly to us.
A prayer
Generous Father, everything I have came first from You. Free my heart from clutching and fear, and make me a cheerful giver. Show me where and how to give — gladly, not grudgingly — so that my open hands reflect Your generous heart. Let giving loosen money's hold on me and deepen my trust that You will provide. Amen.
Carry this with you
Is there a specific way you could give — of money, time, or resources — cheerfully this week?
