When God Feels Far Away

Day 1 · When God Feels Far Away

Honest in the Silence

“How long, Yahweh? Will you forget me forever? How long will you hide your face from me? How long shall I take counsel in my soul, having sorrow in my heart every day?”Psalm 13:1-2

Reflection

Sometimes God feels distant — prayers seem to hit the ceiling, and the warmth we once felt is gone. The Psalms give us permission to say so. 'How long, O Lord?' is a prayer, not a failure of faith. God is not fragile; He can handle our honesty. Bringing our sense of His absence directly to Him is itself an act of faith — and often the first step back toward Him.

A prayer

Lord, I will be honest: lately You feel far away. My prayers seem to go unanswered, and the nearness I once knew has faded. Like the psalmist, I ask: how long? Thank You that You can hold my honesty without turning away. I bring You my confusion and my longing. Even now, in the silence, I am still speaking to You — and I will keep speaking. Amen.

Carry this with you

Can you tell God honestly that He feels far away, trusting that your honesty is welcome?
