When God Feels Far Away

Day 2 · When God Feels Far Away

He Has Not Left You

“...for he has said, 'I will in no way leave you, neither will I in any way forsake you.'”Hebrews 13:5

Reflection

Feelings are real, but they are not always reliable reporters of reality. We may feel that God has left, but He has promised the opposite, in the strongest terms: 'I will never leave you nor forsake you.' His presence does not depend on our awareness of it. In dry seasons, we lean not on the feeling of His nearness but on the rock-solid promise of it.

A prayer

Father, my feelings tell me You are absent, but Your Word tells me You will never leave me nor forsake me. Help me to trust the promise over the feeling. Even when I cannot sense You, I choose to believe You are here, as You have sworn to be. Hold me to that promise in this dry season, and let it be enough until the feeling returns. Amen.

Carry this with you

How might leaning on God's promise, rather than your feelings, steady you in this season?
