Day 6 · Waiting for the Light: An Advent Week
Good News of Great Joy
“The angel said to them, "Don't be afraid, for behold, I bring you good news of great joy which will be to all the people. For there is born to you today, in David's city, a Savior, who is Christ the Lord."”Luke 2:10-11
Reflection
After the long waiting, the news finally breaks over a hillside of ordinary shepherds: do not be afraid, a Savior is born. The good news of Advent is not reserved for the impressive or the worthy; it is announced freely to all people. Joy is drawing near, and it is for you as well.
A prayer
Lord Jesus, you came as a Savior, born for all people, and born for me. Quiet my fears with your good news of great joy. As Christmas draws near, let wonder rise in my heart again at the gift of your coming. Thank you for stepping into our world to bring us home. Amen.
Carry this with you
What would it mean to receive the good news of Christ's coming as joy meant personally for you?
