Day 1 · Anger & Patience
Honest Before God
“Trust in him at all times, you people. Pour out your heart before him. God is a refuge for us.”Psalm 62:8
Reflection
Anger can feel like something we must hide, even from God, as though he could not bear the heat of it. Yet Scripture invites us to pour out our hearts before him without editing or pretending. God is not fragile; he is a refuge, a safe place where we can set down even the feelings we are ashamed of.
A prayer
Loving Father, I come to you today carrying anger I do not always know what to do with. Thank you that I do not have to make myself presentable before I come, but can pour out my heart honestly into your hands. Be my refuge now, and help me trust that you receive me as I am. Teach me to bring my true self to you rather than hiding. Amen.
Carry this with you
What is one feeling of anger you have been holding back from God that you could honestly name before him today?
