Day 2 · Anger & Patience
Slow to Anger
“So, then, my beloved brothers, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, and slow to anger; for the anger of man doesn't produce the righteousness of God.”James 1:19-20
Reflection
Scripture does not shame us for feeling anger, but it gently reminds us that our anger seldom brings about the good and righteous things God desires. Being slow to anger is not about pushing feelings down; it is about leaving a little space between what we feel and what we do. In that quiet pause, we can listen first and let God shape our response.
A prayer
Lord Jesus, even when others wronged you, you were never rushed and never ruled by anger. Help me learn to be swift to listen and slow to speak. When I feel the heat rising, give me the grace to pause and breathe before I act. Form in me the steady, gentle heart that reflects you. Amen.
Carry this with you
Where in your day could you build in a small pause before reacting to something that frustrates you?
