LXXUP Updated Brenton English Septuagint WEB World English Bible (Classic, with Deuterocanon) 1 And the heavens and the earth were finished, and the whole world of them.
1 The heavens, the earth, and all their vast array were finished.
2 And God finished on the sixth day his works which he made, and he ceased on the seventh day from all his works which he made.
2 On the seventh day God finished his work which he had done; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had done.
3 And God blessed the seventh day and sanctified it, because in it he ceased from all his works which God began to do. 3 Y bendijo Dios al día séptimo, y santificólo, porque en él reposó de toda su obra que había Dios criado y hecho.
3 God blessed the seventh day, and made it holy, because he rested in it from all his work of creation which he had done.
4 This [is] the book of the generation of heaven and earth, when they were made, in the day in which the Lord God made the heaven and the earth, 4 Estos son los orígenes de los cielos y de la tierra cuando fueron criados, el día que Jehová Dios hizo la tierra y los cielos,
4 This is the history of the generations of the heavens and of the earth when they were created, in the day that Yahweh God made the earth and the heavens.
5 and every herb of the field before it was on the earth, and all the grass of the field before it sprang up, for God had not rained on the earth, and there was not a man to cultivate it. 5 Y toda planta del campo antes que fuese en la tierra, y toda hierba del campo antes que naciese: porque aun no había Jehová Dios hecho llover sobre la tierra, ni había hombre para que labrase la tierra;
5 No plant of the field was yet in the earth, and no herb of the field had yet sprung up; for Yahweh God had not caused it to rain on the earth. There was not a man to till the ground,
6 But there rose a fountain out of the earth, and watered the whole face of the earth.
6 but a mist went up from the earth, and watered the whole surface of the ground.
7 And God formed the man [of] dust of the earth, and breathed upon his face the breath of life, and the man became a living soul.
7 Yahweh God formed man from the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.
8 And God planted a garden eastward in Eden, and placed there the man whom he had formed.
8 Yahweh God planted a garden eastward, in Eden, and there he put the man whom he had formed.
9 And God made to spring up also out of the earth every tree beautiful to the eye and good for food, and the tree of life in the midst of the garden, and the tree of learning the knowledge of good and evil.
9 Out of the ground Yahweh God made every tree to grow that is pleasant to the sight, and good for food, including the tree of life in the middle of the garden and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.
10 And a river proceeds out of Eden to water the garden, thence it divides itself into four heads.
10 A river went out of Eden to water the garden; and from there it was parted, and became the source of four rivers.
11 The name of the one, Pishon, this it is which encircles the whole land of Havilah, where there is gold.
11 The name of the first is Pishon: it flows through the whole land of Havilah, where there is gold;
12 And the gold of that land is good, there also is carbuncle and emerald.
12 and the gold of that land is good. Bdellium and onyx stone are also there.
13 And the name of the second river is Gihon, this it is which encircles the whole land of Ethiopia.
13 The name of the second river is Gihon. It is the same river that flows through the whole land of Cush.
14 And the third river is Tigris, this is that which flows forth over against the Assyrians. And the fourth river is Euphrates.
14 The name of the third river is Hiddekel. This is the one which flows in front of Assyria. The fourth river is the Euphrates.
15 And the Lord God took the man whom he had formed, and placed him in the garden of Delight, to cultivate and keep it. 15 Tomó, pues, Jehová Dios al hombre, y le puso en el huerto de Edén, para que lo labrara y lo guardase.
15 Yahweh God took the man, and put him into the garden of Eden to cultivate and keep it.
16 And the Lord God gave a charge to Adam, saying, Of every tree which is in the garden thou mayest freely eat, 16 Y mandó Jehová Dios al hombre, diciendo: De todo árbol del huerto comerás;
16 Yahweh God commanded the man, saying, “You may freely eat of every tree of the garden;
17 but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil—of it ye shall not eat, but in whatsoever day ye eat of it, ye shall surely die.
17 but you shall not eat of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil; for in the day that you eat of it, you will surely die.”
18 And the Lord God said, [It is] not good that the man should be alone, let us make for him a help suitable to him.
18 Yahweh God said, “It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make him a helper comparable to him.”
19 And God formed yet farther out of the earth all the wild beasts of the field, and all the birds of the sky, and he brought them to Adam, to see what he would call them, and whatever Adam called any living creature, that was the name of it. 19 Formó, pues, Jehová Dios de la tierra toda bestia del campo, y toda ave de los cielos, y trájolas á Adam, para que viese cómo les había de llamar; y todo lo que Adam llamó á los animales vivientes, ese es su nombre.
19 Out of the ground Yahweh God formed every animal of the field, and every bird of the sky, and brought them to the man to see what he would call them. Whatever the man called every living creature became its name.
20 And Adam gave names to all the cattle and to all the birds of the sky, and to all the wild beasts of the field, but for Adam there was not found a help like to himself.
20 The man gave names to all livestock, and to the birds of the sky, and to every animal of the field; but for man there was not found a helper comparable to him.
21 And God brought a trance upon Adam, and he slept, and he took one of his ribs, and filled up the flesh instead thereof. 21 Y Jehová Dios hizo caer sueño sobre Adam, y se quedó dormido: entonces tomó una de sus costillas, y cerró la carne en su lugar;
21 Yahweh God caused the man to fall into a deep sleep. As the man slept, he took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh in its place.
22 And God formed the rib which he took from Adam into a woman, and brought her to Adam.
22 Yahweh God made a woman from the rib which he had taken from the man, and brought her to the man.
23 And Adam said, This now is bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh; she shall be called woman, because she was taken out of her husband.
23 The man said, “This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh. She will be called ‘woman,’ because she was taken out of Man.”
24 Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother and shall cleave to his wife, and they two shall be one flesh.
24 Therefore a man will leave his father and his mother, and will join with his wife, and they will be one flesh.
25 And the two were naked, both Adam and his wife, and were not ashamed.
25 The man and his wife were both naked, and they were not ashamed.
