CPDV Catholic Public Domain Version WEB World English Bible (Classic, with Deuterocanon) 1 The beginning of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, the Son of God. 1 PRINCIPIO del evangelio de Jesucristo, Hijo de Dios.
1 The beginning of the Good News of Jesus Christ, the Son of God.
2 As it has been written by the prophet Isaiah: “Behold, I send my Angel before your face, who shall prepare your way before you. 2 Como está escrito en Isaías el profeta: He aquí yo envío á mi mensajero delante de tu faz, que apareje tu camino delante de ti.
2 As it is written in the prophets, “Behold, I send my messenger before your face, who will prepare your way before you:
3 The voice of one crying out in the desert: Prepare the way of the Lord; make straight his paths.” 3 Voz del que clama en el desierto: Aparejad el camino del Señor; enderezad sus veredas.
3 the voice of one crying in the wilderness, ‘Make ready the way of the Lord! Make his paths straight!’”
4 John was in the desert, baptizing and preaching a baptism of repentance, as a remission of sins.
4 John came baptizing in the wilderness and preaching the baptism of repentance for forgiveness of sins.
5 And there went out to him all the region of Judea and all those of Jerusalem, and they were baptized by him in the river Jordan, confessing their sins.
5 All the country of Judea and all those of Jerusalem went out to him. They were baptized by him in the Jordan river, confessing their sins.
6 And John was clothed with camel’s hair and with a leather belt around his waist. And he ate locusts and wild honey.
6 John was clothed with camel’s hair and a leather belt around his waist. He ate locusts and wild honey.
7 And he preached, saying: “One stronger than me comes after me. I am not worthy to reach down and loosen the laces of his shoes. 7 Y predicaba, diciendo: Viene tras mí el que es más poderoso que yo, al cual no soy digno de desatar encorvado la correa de sus zapatos.
7 He preached, saying, “After me comes he who is mightier than I, the strap of whose sandals I am not worthy to stoop down and loosen.
8 I have baptized you with water. Yet truly, he will baptize you with the Holy Spirit.” 8 Yo á la verdad os he bautizado con agua; mas él os bautizará con Espíritu Santo.
8 I baptized you in water, but he will baptize you in the Holy Spirit.”
9 And it happened that, in those days, Jesus arrived from Nazareth of Galilee. And he was baptized by John in the Jordan.
9 In those days, Jesus came from Nazareth of Galilee, and was baptized by John in the Jordan.
10 And immediately, upon ascending from the water, he saw the heavens opened and the Spirit, like a dove, descending, and remaining with him.
10 Immediately coming up from the water, he saw the heavens parting and the Spirit descending on him like a dove.
11 And there was a voice from heaven: “You are my beloved Son; in you I am well pleased.” 11 Y hubo [una] voz de los cielos [que decía]: Tú eres mi Hijo amado; en ti tomo contentamiento.
11 A voice came out of the sky, “You are my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.”
12 And immediately the Spirit prompted him into the desert.
12 Immediately the Spirit drove him out into the wilderness.
13 And he was in the desert for forty days and forty nights. And he was tempted by Satan. And he was with the wild animals, and the Angels ministered to him.
13 He was there in the wilderness forty days, tempted by Satan. He was with the wild animals; and the angels were serving him.
14 Then, after John was handed over, Jesus went into Galilee, preaching the Gospel of the kingdom of God, 14 Mas después que Juan fué encarcelado, Jesús vino á Galilea predicando el evangelio del reino de Dios,
14 Now after John was taken into custody, Jesus came into Galilee, preaching the Good News of God’s Kingdom,
15 and saying: “For the time has been fulfilled and the kingdom of God has drawn near. Repent and believe in the Gospel.” 15 Y diciendo: El tiempo es cumplido, y el reino de Dios está cerca: arrepentíos, y creed al evangelio.
15 and saying, “The time is fulfilled, and God’s Kingdom is at hand! Repent, and believe in the Good News.”
16 And passing by the shore of the Sea of Galilee, he saw Simon and his brother Andrew, casting nets into the sea, for they were fishermen.
16 Passing along by the sea of Galilee, he saw Simon and Andrew, the brother of Simon, casting a net into the sea, for they were fishermen.
17 And Jesus said to them, “Come after me, and I will make you fishers of men.” 17 Y les dijo Jesús: Venid en pos de mí, y haré que seáis pescadores de hombres.
17 Jesus said to them, “Come after me, and I will make you into fishers for men.”
18 And at once abandoning their nets, they followed him. 18 Y luego, dejadas sus redes, le siguieron.
18 Immediately they left their nets, and followed him.
19 And continuing on a little ways from there, he saw James of Zebedee and his brother John, and they were mending their nets in a boat.
19 Going on a little further from there, he saw James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother, who were also in the boat mending the nets.
20 And immediately he called them. And leaving behind their father Zebedee in the boat with his hired hands, they followed him.
20 Immediately he called them, and they left their father, Zebedee, in the boat with the hired servants, and went after him.
21 And they entered into Capernaum. And entering into the synagogue promptly on the Sabbaths, he taught them.
21 They went into Capernaum, and immediately on the Sabbath day he entered into the synagogue and taught.
22 And they were astonished over his doctrine. For he was teaching them as one who has authority, and not like the scribes.
22 They were astonished at his teaching, for he taught them as having authority, and not as the scribes.
23 And in their synagogue, there was a man with an unclean spirit; and he cried out, 23 Y había en la sinagoga de ellos un hombre con espíritu inmundo, el cual dió voces,
23 Immediately there was in their synagogue a man with an unclean spirit, and he cried out,
24 saying: “What are we to you, Jesus of Nazareth? Have you come to destroy us? I know who you are: the Holy One of God.” 24 Diciendo: ¡Ah! ¿qué tienes con nosotros, Jesús Nazareno? ¿Has venido á destruirnos? Sé quién eres, el Santo de Dios.
24 saying, “Ha! What do we have to do with you, Jesus, you Nazarene? Have you come to destroy us? I know who you are: the Holy One of God!”
25 And Jesus admonished him, saying, “Be silent, and depart from the man.” 25 Y Jesús le riñó, diciendo: Enmudece, y sal de él.
25 Jesus rebuked him, saying, “Be quiet, and come out of him!”
26 And the unclean spirit, convulsing him and crying out with a loud voice, departed from him.
26 The unclean spirit, convulsing him and crying with a loud voice, came out of him.
27 And they were all so amazed that they inquired among themselves, saying: “What is this? And what is this new doctrine? For with authority he commands even the unclean spirits, and they obey him.” 27 Y todos se maravillaron, de tal manera que inquirían entre sí, diciendo: ¿Qué es esto?
27 They were all amazed, so that they questioned among themselves, saying, “What is this? What can this new doctrine be? For with authority he commands even the unclean spirits, and they obey him!”
28 And his fame went out quickly, throughout the entire region of Galilee.
28 The report of him went out immediately into all the region of Galilee and its surrounding area.
29 And soon after departing from the synagogue, they went into the house of Simon and Andrew, with James and John.
29 Immediately, when they had come out of the synagogue, they came into the house of Simon and Andrew, with James and John.
30 But the mother-in-law of Simon lay ill with a fever. And at once they told him about her.
30 Now Simon’s wife’s mother lay sick with a fever, and immediately they told him about her.
31 And drawing near to her, he raised her up, taking her by the hand. And immediately the fever left her, and she ministered to them.
31 He came and took her by the hand and raised her up. The fever left her immediately, and she served them.
32 Then, when evening arrived, after the sun had set, they brought to him all who had maladies and those who had demons. 32 Y cuando fué la tarde, luego que el sol se puso, traían á él todos los que tenían mal, y endemoniados;
32 At evening, when the sun had set, they brought to him all who were sick and those who were possessed by demons.
33 And the entire city was gathered together at the door.
33 All the city was gathered together at the door.
34 And he healed many who were troubled with various illnesses. And he cast out many demons, but he would not permit them to speak, because they knew him.
34 He healed many who were sick with various diseases and cast out many demons. He didn’t allow the demons to speak, because they knew him.
35 And rising up very early, departing, he went out to a deserted place, and there he prayed.
35 Early in the morning, while it was still dark, he rose up and went out, and departed into a deserted place, and prayed there.
36 And Simon, and those who were with him, followed after him. 36 Y le siguió Simón, y los que estaban con él;
36 Simon and those who were with him searched for him.
37 And when they had found him, they said to him, “For everyone is seeking you.” 37 Y hallándole, le dicen: Todos te buscan.
37 They found him and told him, “Everyone is looking for you.”
38 And he said to them: “Let us go into the neighboring towns and cities, so that I may preach there also. Indeed, it was for this reason that I came.” 38 Y les dice: Vamos á los lugares vecinos, para que predique también allí; porque para esto he venido.
38 He said to them, “Let’s go elsewhere into the next towns, that I may preach there also, because I came out for this reason.”
39 And he was preaching in their synagogues and throughout all of Galilee, and casting out demons.
39 He went into their synagogues throughout all Galilee, preaching and casting out demons.
40 And a leper came to him, begging him. And kneeling down, he said to him, “If you are willing, you are able to cleanse me.” 40 Y un leproso vino á él, rogándole; é hincada la rodilla, le dice: Si quieres, puedes limpiarme.
40 A leper came to him, begging him, kneeling down to him, and saying to him, “If you want to, you can make me clean.”
41 Then Jesus, taking pity on him, reached out his hand. And touching him, he said to him: “I am willing. Be cleansed.” 41 Y Jesús, teniendo misericordia de él, extendió su mano, y le tocó, y le dice: Quiero, sé limpio.
41 Being moved with compassion, he stretched out his hand, and touched him, and said to him, “I want to. Be made clean.”
42 And after he had spoken, immediately the leprosy departed from him, and he was cleansed.
42 When he had said this, immediately the leprosy departed from him and he was made clean.
43 And he admonished him, and he promptly sent him away. 43 Entonces le apercibió, y despidióle luego,
43 He strictly warned him and immediately sent him out,
44 And he said to him: “See to it that you tell no one. But go and show yourself to the high priest, and offer for your cleansing that which Moses instructed, as a testimony for them.” 44 Y le dice: Mira, no digas á nadie nada; sino ve, muéstrate al sacerdote, y ofrece por tu limpieza lo que Moisés mandó, para testimonio á ellos.
44 and said to him, “See that you say nothing to anybody, but go show yourself to the priest and offer for your cleansing the things which Moses commanded, for a testimony to them.”
45 But having departed, he began to preach and to disseminate the word, so that he was no longer able to openly enter a city, but had to remain outside, in deserted places. And they were gathered to him from every direction.
45 But he went out, and began to proclaim it much, and to spread about the matter, so that Jesus could no more openly enter into a city, but was outside in desert places. People came to him from everywhere.
