1 »Cuando el Señor te haya introducido en la Tierra prometida, como pronto lo hará, destruirá a las siguientes naciones, siete en total, todas naciones numerosas y más poderosas que tú: Los hititas, los gergeseos, los amorreos, los cananeos, los ferezeos, los heveos y los jebuseos.
1 CUANDO Jehová tu Dios te hubiere introducido en la tierra en la cual tú has de entrar para poseerla, y hubiere echado de delante de ti muchas gentes, al Hetheo, al Gergeseo, y al Amorrheo, y al Cananeo, y al Pherezeo, y al Heveo, y al Jebuseo, siete naciones mayores y más fuertes que tú;
1 When Yahweh your God brings you into the land where you go to possess it, and casts out many nations before you—the Hittite, the Girgashite, the Amorite, the Canaanite, the Perizzite, the Hivite, and the Jebusite—seven nations greater and mightier than you;
2 »Cuando el Señor tu Dios te las entregue, deberás destruirlas completamente. No hagas con ellas pacto, ni les muestres misericordia. Las destruirás completamente.
2 Y Jehová tu Dios las hubiere entregado delante de ti, y las hirieres, del todo las destruirás: no harás con ellos alianza, ni las tomarás á merced.
2 and when Yahweh your God delivers them up before you, and you strike them, then you shall utterly destroy them. You shall make no covenant with them, nor show mercy to them.
3 No te casarás con ninguna de las mujeres de esas naciones, ni permitirás que tus hijos e hijas casen a sus hijos e hijas con ellos.
3 Y no emparentarás con ellos: no darás tu hija á su hijo, ni tomarás á su hija para tu hijo.
3 You shall not make marriages with them. You shall not give your daughter to his son, nor shall you take his daughter for your son.
4 Si eso sucediera, con seguridad, tus descendientes comenzarían a adorar a los dioses de esas naciones y se apartarían del Señor. Entonces la ira del Señor se encendería en contra tuya y te destruiría.
4 Porque desviará á tu hijo de en pos de mí, y servirán á dioses ajenos; y el furor de Jehová se encenderá sobre vosotros, y te destruirá presto.
4 For that would turn away your sons from following me, that they may serve other gods. So Yahweh’s anger would be kindled against you, and he would destroy you quickly.
5 »Debes derribar los altares paganos, quebrar los obeliscos, destruir las imágenes de Aserá y quemar sus ídolos.
5 Mas así habéis de hacer con ellos: sus altares destruiréis, y quebraréis sus estatuas, y cortaréis sus bosques, y quemaréis sus esculturas en el fuego.
5 But you shall deal with them like this: you shall break down their altars, dash their pillars in pieces, cut down their Asherah poles, and burn their engraved images with fire.
6 Porque eres una nación santa, consagrada al Señor tu Dios. Él te ha elegido de entre todos los pueblos de la tierra para ser su pueblo escogido.
6 Porque tú eres pueblo santo á Jehová tu Dios: Jehová tu Dios te ha escogido para serle un pueblo especial, más que todos los pueblos que están sobre la haz de la tierra.
6 For you are a holy people to Yahweh your God. Yahweh your God has chosen you to be a people for his own possession, above all peoples who are on the face of the earth.
7 El Señor no te eligió ni te demostró su amor porque fueras una nación más grande que las demás. Al contrario, eras la más insignificante de todas las naciones.
7 No por ser vosotros más que todos los pueblos os ha querido Jehová, y os ha escogido; porque vosotros erais los más pocos de todos los pueblos:
7 Yahweh didn’t set his love on you nor choose you, because you were more in number than any people; for you were the fewest of all peoples;
8 Fue porque él te amó y cumplió la promesa hecha a tus antepasados. Por esta razón te liberó de la esclavitud de Egipto con una gran demostración de poder y milagros maravillosos.
8 Sino porque Jehová os amó, y quiso guardar el juramento que juró á vuestros padres, os ha sacado Jehová con mano fuerte, y os ha rescatado de casa de siervos, de la mano de Faraón, rey de Egipto.
8 but because Yahweh loves you, and because he desires to keep the oath which he swore to your fathers, Yahweh has brought you out with a mighty hand and redeemed you out of the house of bondage, from the hand of Pharaoh king of Egypt.
9 »Entiende, pues, que el Señor tu Dios es el único Dios fiel, que por mil generaciones es fiel a su alianza y muestra su lealtad a los que le aman y obedecen sus mandamientos.
9 Conoce, pues, que Jehová tu Dios es Dios, Dios fiel, que guarda el pacto y la misericordia á los que le aman y guardan sus mandamientos, hasta las mil generaciones;
9 Know therefore that Yahweh your God himself is God, the faithful God, who keeps covenant and loving kindness to a thousand generations with those who love him and keep his commandments,
10 Pero los que lo odian, él mismo los castigará y destruirá.
10 Y que da el pago en su cara al que le aborrece, destruyéndolo: ni [lo] dilatará al que le odia, en su cara le dará el pago.
10 and repays those who hate him to their face, to destroy them. He will not be slack to him who hates him. He will repay him to his face.
11 Por lo tanto, obedece todos estos mandamientos, estatutos y decretos que te doy en este día.
11 Guarda por tanto los mandamientos, y estatutos, y derechos que yo te mando hoy que cumplas.
11 You shall therefore keep the commandments, the statutes, and the ordinances which I command you today, to do them.
12 Como resultado de tu obediencia a los mandamientos, el Señor tu Dios mantendrá la parte del pacto que bajo juramento y con tierno amor hizo con tus antepasados.
12 Y será que, por haber oído estos derechos, y guardado y puéstolos por obra, Jehová tu Dios guardará contigo el pacto y la misericordia que juró á tus padres;
12 It shall happen, because you listen to these ordinances and keep and do them, that Yahweh your God will keep with you the covenant and the loving kindness which he swore to your fathers.
13 Te amará y te bendecirá y te hará una nación muy numerosa. Los hará fértiles a ti, a tu tierra y a tus animales. Así tendrás abundancia de cereales, de vino y de aceite. Además, tus rebaños de vacas, de ovejas y de cabras aumentarán sobremanera cuando entres a la tierra que prometió a tus antepasados que les daría.
13 Y te amará, y te bendecirá, y te multiplicará, y bendecirá el fruto de tu vientre, y el fruto de tu tierra, y tu grano, y tu mosto, y tu aceite, la cría de tus vacas, y los rebaños de tus ovejas, en la tierra que juró á tus padres que te daría.
13 He will love you, bless you, and multiply you. He will also bless the fruit of your body and the fruit of your ground, your grain and your new wine and your oil, the increase of your livestock and the young of your flock, in the land which he swore to your fathers to give you.
14 Serás bendecido más que todas las naciones de la tierra; ninguno de los tuyos, sea hombre o mujer, será estéril, y tampoco lo será tu ganado.
14 Bendito serás más que todos los pueblos: no habrá en ti varón ni hembra estéril, ni en tus bestias.
14 You will be blessed above all peoples. There won’t be male or female barren among you, or among your livestock.
15 Y el Señor quitará de ti toda enfermedad y no dejará que sufras ninguna de las plagas que tú mismo sabes que azotaron a Egipto. En cambio, tus enemigos sí las sufrirán.
15 Y quitará Jehová de ti toda enfermedad; y todas las malas plagas de Egipto, que tú sabes, no las pondrá sobre ti, antes las pondrá sobre todos los que te aborrecieren.
15 Yahweh will take away from you all sickness; and he will put none of the evil diseases of Egypt, which you know, on you, but will lay them on all those who hate you.
16 »Deberás destruir a todas las naciones que el Señor tu Dios entrega en tus manos. No te apiadarás de ellas ni adorarás sus dioses. El día que lo hagas habrás caído en una trampa.
16 Y consumirás á todos los pueblos que te da Jehová tu Dios: no los perdonará tu ojo; ni servirás á sus dioses, que te será tropiezo.
16 You shall consume all the peoples whom Yahweh your God shall deliver to you. Your eye shall not pity them. You shall not serve their gods; for that would be a snare to you.
17 Quizás pienses: “¿Cómo podemos vencer a estas naciones que son mucho más poderosas que nosotros?”.
17 Cuando dijeres en tu corazón: Estas gentes son muchas más que yo, ¿cómo las podré desarraigar?;
17 If you shall say in your heart, “These nations are more than I; how can I dispossess them?”
18 No les tengas miedo. Recuerda lo que el Señor tu Dios le hizo al faraón y a toda la tierra de Egipto.
18 No tengas temor de ellos: acuérdate bien de lo que hizo Jehová tu Dios con Faraón y con todo Egipto;
18 you shall not be afraid of them. You shall remember well what Yahweh your God did to Pharaoh and to all Egypt:
19 ¿Recuerdas las plagas que el Señor envió sobre ellos (tus padres las vieron con sus propios ojos) y los milagros portentosos, y las maravillas, y el poder y fortaleza que Dios Todopoderoso usó para sacarte de Egipto? Pues el Señor tu Dios usará ese mismo poder contra el pueblo que tú temas.
19 De las grandes pruebas que vieron tus ojos, y de las señales y milagros, y de la mano fuerte y brazo extendido con que Jehová tu Dios te sacó: así hará Jehová tu Dios con todos los pueblos de cuya presencia tú temieres.
19 the great trials which your eyes saw, the signs, the wonders, the mighty hand, and the outstretched arm, by which Yahweh your God brought you out. So shall Yahweh your God do to all the peoples of whom you are afraid.
20 Más aún, Dios enviará avispas para destruir a los que queden y se escondan de ti.
20 Y también enviará Jehová tu Dios sobre ellos avispas, hasta que perezcan los que quedaren, y los que se hubieren escondido de delante de ti.
20 Moreover Yahweh your God will send the hornet among them, until those who are left, and hide themselves, perish from before you.
21 »No tengas miedo de esas naciones porque el Señor tu Dios está contigo y es un Dios poderoso y terrible.
21 No desmayes delante de ellos, que Jehová tu Dios está en medio de ti, Dios grande y terrible.
21 You shall not be scared of them; for Yahweh your God is among you, a great and awesome God.
22 Él las expulsará en forma paulatina. No lo hará de una vez, porque si lo hiciera, los animales salvajes se multiplicarían con demasiada rapidez y esto sería peligroso.
22 Y Jehová tu Dios echará á estas gentes de delante de ti poco á poco: no las podrás acabar luego, porque las bestias del campo no se aumenten contra ti.
22 Yahweh your God will cast out those nations before you little by little. You may not consume them at once, lest the animals of the field increase on you.
23 Lo hará gradualmente para que puedas actuar contra ellas y destruirlas.
23 Mas Jehová tu Dios las entregará delante de ti, y él las quebrantará con grande destrozo, hasta que sean destruídos.
23 But Yahweh your God will deliver them up before you, and will confuse them with a great confusion, until they are destroyed.
24 Dios entregará los reyes de esas naciones en tus manos, y tú borrarás sus nombres de la faz de la tierra. Ninguno podrá prevalecer en contra tuya.
24 Y él entregará sus reyes en tu mano, y tú destruirás el nombre de ellos de debajo del cielo: nadie te hará frente hasta que los destruyas.
24 He will deliver their kings into your hand, and you shall make their name perish from under the sky. No one will be able to stand before you until you have destroyed them.
25 »Quema sus ídolos y no toques la plata o el oro con que estén hechos. No los tomes porque te servirán de tropiezo: el Señor los detesta.
25 Las esculturas de sus dioses quemarás en el fuego: no codiciarás plata ni oro de sobre ellas para tomarlo para ti, porque no tropieces en ello, pues es abominación á Jehová tu Dios;
25 You shall burn the engraved images of their gods with fire. You shall not covet the silver or the gold that is on them, nor take it for yourself, lest you be snared in it; for it is an abomination to Yahweh your God.
26 No traigas ídolos a tu casa ni los adores, porque entonces sellarás tu condenación. Aborrécelos porque son malditos.
26 Y no meterás abominación en tu casa, porque no seas anatema como ello; del todo lo aborrecerás y lo abominarás; porque es anatema.
26 You shall not bring an abomination into your house and become a devoted thing like it. You shall utterly detest it. You shall utterly abhor it; for it is a devoted thing.
