YLT Young's Literal Translation WEB World English Bible (Classic, with Deuterocanon) 1 And Joseph falleth on his father's face, and weepeth over him, and kisseth him; 1 ENTONCES se echó José sobre el rostro de su padre, y lloró sobre él, y besólo.
1 Joseph fell on his father’s face, wept on him, and kissed him.
2 and Joseph commandeth his servants, the physicians, to embalm his father, and the physicians embalm Israel; 2 Y mandó José á sus médicos familiares que embalsamasen á su padre: y los médicos embalsamaron á Israel.
2 Joseph commanded his servants, the physicians, to embalm his father; and the physicians embalmed Israel.
3 and they fulfil for him forty days, for so they fulfil the days of the embalmed, and the Egyptians weep for him seventy days.
3 Forty days were used for him, for that is how many days it takes to embalm. The Egyptians wept for Israel for seventy days.
4 And the days of his weeping pass away, and Joseph speaketh unto the house of Pharaoh, saying, 'If, I pray you, I have found grace in your eyes, speak, I pray you, in the ears of Pharaoh, saying, 4 Y pasados los días de su luto, habló José á los de la casa de Faraón, diciendo: Si he hallado ahora gracia en vuestros ojos, os ruego que habléis en oídos de Faraón, diciendo:
4 When the days of weeping for him were past, Joseph spoke to Pharaoh’s staff, saying, “If now I have found favor in your eyes, please speak in the ears of Pharaoh, saying,
5 My father caused me to swear, saying, Lo, I am dying; in my burying-place which I have prepared for myself in the land of Canaan, there dost thou bury me; and now, let me go up, I pray thee, and bury my father, and return;' 5 Mi padre me conjuró diciendo: He aquí yo muero; en mi sepulcro que yo cavé para mí en la tierra de Canaán, allí me sepultarás; ruego pues que vaya yo ahora, y sepultaré á mi padre, y volveré.
5 ‘My father made me swear, saying, “Behold, I am dying. Bury me in my grave which I have dug for myself in the land of Canaan.” Now therefore, please let me go up and bury my father, and I will come again.’”
6 and Pharaoh saith, 'Go up and bury thy father, as he caused thee to swear.' 6 Y Faraón dijo: Ve, y sepulta á tu padre, como él te conjuró.
6 Pharaoh said, “Go up, and bury your father, just like he made you swear.”
7 And Joseph goeth up to bury his father, and go up with him do all the servants of Pharaoh, elders of his house, and all the elders of the land of Egypt, 7 Entonces José subió á sepultar á su padre; y subieron con él todos los siervos de Faraón, los ancianos de su casa, y todos los ancianos de la tierra de Egipto,
7 Joseph went up to bury his father; and with him went up all the servants of Pharaoh, the elders of his house, all the elders of the land of Egypt,
8 and all the house of Joseph, and his brethren, and the house of his father; only their infants, and their flock, and their herd, have they left in the land of Goshen; 8 Y toda la casa de José, y sus hermanos, y la casa de su padre: solamente dejaron en la tierra de Gosén sus niños, y sus ovejas y sus vacas.
8 all the house of Joseph, his brothers, and his father’s house. Only their little ones, their flocks, and their herds, they left in the land of Goshen.
9 and there go up with him both chariot and horsemen, and the camp is very great.
9 Both chariots and horsemen went up with him. It was a very great company.
10 And they come unto the threshing-floor of Atad, which [is] beyond the Jordan, and they lament there, a lamentation great and very grievous; and he maketh for his father a mourning seven days, 10 Y llegaron hasta la era de Atad, que está á la otra parte del Jordán, y endecharon allí con grande y muy grave lamentación: y José hizo á su padre duelo por siete días.
10 They came to the threshing floor of Atad, which is beyond the Jordan, and there they lamented with a very great and severe lamentation. He mourned for his father seven days.
11 and the inhabitant of the land, the Canaanite, see the mourning in the threshing-floor of Atad, and say, 'A grievous mourning [is] this to the Egyptians;' therefore hath [one] called its name 'The mourning of the Egyptians,' which [is] beyond the Jordan.
11 When the inhabitants of the land, the Canaanites, saw the mourning in the floor of Atad, they said, “This is a grievous mourning by the Egyptians.” Therefore its name was called Abel Mizraim, which is beyond the Jordan.
12 And his sons do to him so as he commanded them, 12 Hicieron, pues, sus hijos con él, según les había mandado:
12 His sons did to him just as he commanded them,
13 and his sons bear him away to the land of Canaan, and bury him in the cave of the field of Machpelah, which Abraham bought with the field for a possession of a burying-place, from Ephron the Hittite, on the front of Mamre.
13 for his sons carried him into the land of Canaan, and buried him in the cave of the field of Machpelah, which Abraham bought with the field, as a possession for a burial site, from Ephron the Hittite, near Mamre.
14 And Joseph turneth back to Egypt, he and his brethren, and all who are going up with him to bury his father, after his burying his father.
14 Joseph returned into Egypt—he, and his brothers, and all that went up with him to bury his father, after he had buried his father.
15 And the brethren of Joseph see that their father is dead, and say, 'Peradventure Joseph doth hate us, and doth certainly return to us all the evil which we did with him.' 15 Y viendo los hermanos de José que su padre era muerto, dijeron: Quizá nos aborrecerá José, y nos dará el pago de todo el mal que le hicimos.
15 When Joseph’s brothers saw that their father was dead, they said, “It may be that Joseph will hate us, and will fully pay us back for all the evil which we did to him.”
16 And they give a charge for Joseph, saying, 'Thy father commanded before his death, saying, 16 Y enviaron á decir á José: Tu padre mandó antes de su muerte, diciendo:
16 They sent a message to Joseph, saying, “Your father commanded before he died, saying,
17 Thus ye do say to Joseph, I pray thee, bear, I pray thee, with the transgression of thy brethren, and their sin, for they have done thee evil; and now, bear, we pray thee, with the transgression of the servants of the God of thy father;' and Joseph weepeth in their speaking unto him.
17 ‘You shall tell Joseph, “Now please forgive the disobedience of your brothers, and their sin, because they did evil to you.”’ Now, please forgive the disobedience of the servants of the God of your father.” Joseph wept when they spoke to him.
18 And his brethren also go and fall before him, and say, 'Lo, we [are] to thee for servants.' 18 Y vinieron también sus hermanos, y postráronse delante de él, y dijeron: Henos aquí por tus siervos.
18 His brothers also went and fell down before his face; and they said, “Behold, we are your servants.”
19 And Joseph saith unto them, 'Fear not, for [am] I in the place of God? 19 Y respondióles José: No temáis: ¿estoy yo en lugar de Dios?
19 Joseph said to them, “Don’t be afraid, for am I in the place of God?
20 As for you, ye devised against me evil — God devised it for good, in order to do as [at] this day, to keep alive a numerous people; 20 Vosotros pensasteis mal sobre mí, mas Dios lo encaminó á bien, para hacer lo que vemos hoy, para mantener en vida á mucho pueblo.
20 As for you, you meant evil against me, but God meant it for good, to save many people alive, as is happening today.
21 and now, fear not: I do nourish you and your infants;' and he comforteth them, and speaketh unto their heart. 21 Ahora, pues, no tengáis miedo; yo os sustentaré á vosotros y á vuestros hijos.
21 Now therefore don’t be afraid. I will provide for you and your little ones.” He comforted them, and spoke kindly to them.
22 And Joseph dwelleth in Egypt, he and the house of his father, and Joseph liveth a hundred and ten years, 22 Y estuvo José en Egipto, él y la casa de su padre: y vivió José ciento diez años.
22 Joseph lived in Egypt, he, and his father’s house. Joseph lived one hundred ten years.
23 and Joseph looketh on Ephraim's sons of the third [generation]; sons also of Machir, son of Manasseh, have been born on the knees of Joseph.
23 Joseph saw Ephraim’s children to the third generation. The children also of Machir, the son of Manasseh, were born on Joseph’s knees.
24 And Joseph saith unto his brethren, 'I am dying, and God doth certainly inspect you, and hath caused you to go up from this land, unto the land which He hath sworn to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob.' 24 Y José dijo á sus hermanos: Yo me muero; mas Dios ciertamente os visitará, y os hará subir de aquesta tierra á la tierra que juró á Abraham, á Isaac, y á Jacob.
24 Joseph said to his brothers, “I am dying, but God will surely visit you, and bring you up out of this land to the land which he swore to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob.”
25 And Joseph causeth the sons of Israel to swear, saying, 'God doth certainly inspect you, and ye have brought up my bones from this [place].' 25 Y conjuró José á los hijos de Israel, diciendo: Dios ciertamente os visitará, y haréis llevar de aquí mis huesos.
25 Joseph took an oath from the children of Israel, saying, “God will surely visit you, and you shall carry up my bones from here.”
26 And Joseph dieth, a son of an hundred and ten years, and they embalm him, and he is put into a coffin in Egypt.
26 So Joseph died, being one hundred ten years old, and they embalmed him, and he was put in a coffin in Egypt.
