Fasting & Self-Control
A gentle five-day walk through hunger, appetite, and the quiet strength of the Spirit
A five-day prayer plan exploring fasting not as punishment but as a way to make room for God, learning to hold our appetites lightly and receive self-control as a gift of His Spirit.
This plan is a devotional aid meant to encourage prayer and reflection, not a substitute for pastoral guidance, medical advice, or care from a doctor. Fasting is not safe or wise for everyone; if you are unwell, pregnant, nursing, on medication, or have any history of disordered eating, please speak with a doctor and with your priest or spiritual father first; fasting is best kept within the Church's own rhythm of fasting days and seasons. There are many gentle ways to fast, and skipping food entirely is never required to draw near to God.
