PT1904 Patriarchal Text 1904 (accented, eBible edition)
·
2 Entonces le pregunté: «¿A dónde vas?». Y él me respondió: «Voy a medir a Jerusalén, pues quiero saber cuánto mide de ancho y cuánto de largo».
·
¡Regresen a Jerusalén!

What the Fathers said

Passages from the Church Fathers that expound or quote this chapter, verbatim from the public-domain Schaff edition (19th-century English translations).

How these were chosen

“Commentary” is the opening of a homily or exposition on this chapter (John Chrysostom’s homilies, Augustine’s tractates, sermons and expositions of the Psalms). “Quotes” are sentences where the edition’s own footnotes identify a quotation of a verse here, kept only when the wording matches the verse. Only works whose authorship is not in doubt are used. Psalms follow the Hebrew/English numbering (Augustine numbers them as the Septuagint does: his Psalm 50 is Psalm 51 here).

  1. Quotes verse 2:8 Augustine of Hippo, The City of God (Book XX, Chapters 27–29)

Behold, I will bring mine hand upon them, and they shall be a spoil to their servants: and ye shall know that the Lord Almighty hath sent me." Observe, the Lord Almighty saith that the Lord Almighty sent Him.

  2. Quotes verse 2:10 Cyril of Jerusalem, Catechetical Lectures (Lecture XII)

I come, and I will dwell in the midst of thee, saith the Lord. And many nations shall flee unto the Lord.
