1 A PSALM OF THE SONS OF KORAH. A SONG. His foundation [is] in holy mountains.
1 A los hijos de Coré: Salmo: Canción. SU cimiento es en montes de santidad.
1 A Psalm by the sons of Korah; a Song. His foundation is in the holy mountains.
2 YHWH is loving the gates of Zion || Above all the dwelling places of Jacob.
2 Yahweh loves the gates of Zion more than all the dwellings of Jacob.
3 Honorable things are spoken in You, || O city of God. Selah.
(Selah.)
3 Glorious things are spoken about you, city of God. Selah.
4 I mention Rahab and Babel to those knowing Me, || Behold, Philistia, and Tyre, with Cush! This [one] was born there.
4 I will record Rahab and Babylon among those who acknowledge me. Behold, Philistia, Tyre, and also Ethiopia: “This one was born there.”
5 And of Zion it is said: Each one was born in her, || And He, the Most High, establishes her.
5 Yes, of Zion it will be said, “This one and that one was born in her;” the Most High himself will establish her.
6 YHWH recounts in the describing of the peoples, “This [one] was born there.” Selah.
(Selah.)
6 Yahweh will count, when he writes up the peoples, “This one was born there.” Selah.
7 Also singers as players on instruments, || All my fountains [are] in You!
7 Y cantores y tañedores [en ella dirán]: Todas mis fuentes estarán en ti.
7 Those who sing as well as those who dance say, “All my springs are in you.”

What the Fathers said

Passages from the Church Fathers that expound or quote this chapter, verbatim from the public-domain Schaff edition (19th-century English translations).

How these were chosen

“Commentary” is the opening of a homily or exposition on this chapter (John Chrysostom’s homilies, Augustine’s tractates, sermons and expositions of the Psalms). “Quotes” are sentences where the edition’s own footnotes identify a quotation of a verse here, kept only when the wording matches the verse. Only works whose authorship is not in doubt are used. Psalms follow the Hebrew/English numbering (Augustine numbers them as the Septuagint does: his Psalm 50 is Psalm 51 here).
