1 Salomón, hijo de David, consolidó su reino. El Señor su Dios estaba con él y lo hizo muy poderoso.
1 Solomon the son of David was firmly established in his kingdom, and Yahweh his God was with him, and made him exceedingly great.
2 Salomón convocó a todo Israel: a los jefes de mil y de cien soldados, a los jueces y a todos los jefes de las familias de Israel.
2 Solomon spoke to all Israel, to the captains of thousands and of hundreds, to the judges, and to every prince in all Israel, the heads of the fathers’ households.
3 Salomón y todos los hombres de Israel que estaban con él fueron al santuario en el lugar alto de Gabaón. Allí estaba la Tienda de reunión de Dios, que Moisés, siervo del Señor, había hecho en el desierto.
3 Then Solomon, and all the assembly with him, went to the high place that was at Gibeon; for God’s Tent of Meeting was there, which Yahweh’s servant Moses had made in the wilderness.
4 David había llevado el arca de Dios desde Quiriat-jearim al lugar que le había preparado en Jerusalén, donde había levantado una tienda para ella.
4 But David had brought God’s ark up from Kiriath Jearim to the place that David had prepared for it; for he had pitched a tent for it at Jerusalem.
5 El altar de bronce que había hecho Bezalel, hijo de Uri y nieto de Hur, estaba delante de la Tienda del Señor. Salomón y todo el pueblo fueron allí a adorar.
5 Moreover the bronze altar that Bezalel the son of Uri, the son of Hur, had made was there before Yahweh’s tabernacle; and Solomon and the assembly were seeking counsel there.
6 Salomón se acercó al altar de bronce que estaba ante el Señor, frente a la Tienda de reunión, y ofreció en él mil holocaustos.
6 Solomon went up there to the bronze altar before Yahweh, which was at the Tent of Meeting, and offered one thousand burnt offerings on it.
7 Esa noche Dios se apareció a Salomón en una visión y le dijo: «Pídeme lo que quieras que te dé».
7 That night, God appeared to Solomon and said to him, “Ask for what you want me to give you.”
8 Salomón respondió a Dios: «Mostraste gran misericordia a mi padre David y me hiciste rey en su lugar.
8 Solomon said to God, “You have shown great loving kindness to David my father, and have made me king in his place.
9 Ahora, Señor Dios, cumple lo que prometiste a mi padre David, pues me has hecho rey de un pueblo tan numeroso como el polvo de la tierra.
9 Now, Yahweh God, let your promise to David my father be established; for you have made me king over a people like the dust of the earth in multitude.
10 Dame sabiduría y conocimiento para dirigir a este pueblo. ¿Quién puede gobernar a este pueblo tuyo tan grande?».
10 Now give me wisdom and knowledge, that I may go out and come in before this people; for who can judge this great people of yours?”
11 Dios le dijo a Salomón: «Eso es lo que has deseado. No has pedido dinero, bienes, honor, la muerte de tus enemigos ni una larga vida. Has pedido sabiduría y conocimiento para gobernar a mi pueblo, del cual te he hecho rey.
11 God said to Solomon, “Because this was in your heart, and you have not asked riches, wealth, honor, or the life of those who hate you, nor yet have you asked for long life; but have asked for wisdom and knowledge for yourself, that you may judge my people, over whom I have made you king,
12 Por eso te doy sabiduría y conocimiento. Además, te daré riquezas y honor como no los ha tenido ningún rey antes de ti ni los tendrá después de ti».
12 therefore wisdom and knowledge is granted to you. I will give you riches, wealth, and honor, such as none of the kings have had who have been before you, and none after you will have.”
13 Salomón regresó a Jerusalén desde el santuario en el lugar alto de Gabaón, donde estaba la Tienda de reunión, y reinó sobre Israel.
13 So Solomon came from the high place that was at Gibeon, from before the Tent of Meeting, to Jerusalem; and he reigned over Israel.
14 Salomón reunió mil cuatrocientos carros de guerra y doce mil jinetes. Los distribuyó entre las ciudades donde se guardaban los carros y Jerusalén, donde estaba el rey.
14 Solomon gathered chariots and horsemen. He had one thousand four hundred chariots and twelve thousand horsemen that he placed in the chariot cities, and with the king at Jerusalem.
15 El rey hizo que la plata y el oro fueran tan comunes en Jerusalén como las piedras, y que los cedros fueran tan abundantes como los sicómoros de las tierras bajas.
15 The king made silver and gold to be as common as stones in Jerusalem, and he made cedars to be as common as the sycamore trees that are in the lowland.
16 Los caballos de Salomón se importaban de Egipto. Los comerciantes del rey los compraban en Cue por un precio establecido.
16 The horses which Solomon had were brought out of Egypt and from Kue. The king’s merchants purchased them from Kue.
17 Un carro de guerra se compraba en Egipto por seiscientos siclos de plata, y un caballo por ciento cincuenta. Por medio de esos comerciantes se compraban al mismo precio para todos los reyes hititas y los reyes de Aram.
17 They imported from Egypt then exported a chariot for six hundred pieces of silver and a horse for one hundred fifty. They also exported them to the Hittite kings and the Syrian kings.
